On August 15th, during The Skateboard Film Festival weekend, we staged 4 Brand New iMacs (equally spec’d out) in SIFF Cinema’s hallway to host the first ever “FINAL CUT PRO BATTLE”. Each computer was pre-loaded with Final Cut Pro and Adobe After Effects. Additionally, locally gathered skate clips were placed on the ‘desktop’ of each computer for the editors to use. Music was brought by each contestant for them to add their own personal touch to each edit.

The winner is…

Ben Kaplan for his 4 ACT Edit. The judges felt that Ben’s was put together with the best storyboard with his centralized theme of the different “Acts”. For his efforts, he will win Apple’s new Final Cut Studio suite, a filmer board set-up from Black Box Distribution, and The Skateboard Film Festival’s “Cammy” award. Pictures to follow…
